TWO false alarms? I remember the false M40 case (and some flaming in the forum about it... ), in June 2003 IIRC, but that´s about all. When was the other one?

Wait a second, the exponent is only around 24M. Someone said that it would take around a month to verify the exponent. Is that really going to take a month to verify on a P4? My P4 could do that in ~12 days.

I checked the P-1 files on these four exponents and found the following stage 1 and stage 2 limits:

21169397 330,000 330,000
22776563 205,000 973,750
23393483 265,000 5,498,750
24036583 265,000 3,908,750

Since the two exponents by curtisc have had less P-1 factoring work done on them, I'm running the first one (which has no stage 2 work) in stage 1 to 525,000 and in stage 2 to 4,200,000 in the hopes of finding a factor and eliminating a possibility. I have the second one queued up (with the same limits), but if anyone else want to take it, I'll just run the first one to a higher stage 2 limit, just let me know in this thread.

By the way, I just started stage 2 on 21169397. I should finish tonight. Hopefully I can get these done before xyzzy finishes his verification!

Great! If I don't find a factor of M21169397 running stage 2 to 4,200,000, I'll go ahead and run it to 8,400,000.

Could someone guess such the exponent?Even in ranges?
What exponent should george`s machine run a month on?
