So... just to share...
I'm currently working on a very interesting project. What cannot be measured cannot be controlled. |

You may be right but then again, measurement may not be required.

This is the part I always dread...
Everything /should/ be correct. But is it? I'll find out in about ten (10#) days... P.S. Yes, LaurV... I'm using 0805s... ![]() |

So... I have to report to my boss in about 12 hours.
I've done serious stuff. But have nothing to demonstrate. Sucks to be me. |

There are a couple of 0402 here
![]() ![]() For scale, the 50 milliohm shunts are 2010, and close to one of them you can see the side of a 1206 which was handsoldered in an oblique position after fact (design mistake, found out during development of the firmware, there is already a new PCB on work; there are also few 0603 handsoldered between the legs of some transistors, one visible above the R in my name - 01C means 10k ohm, and there is a 0402 soldered oblique close to the diode/big hole in the center - everything is "fixed" in the new version). In fact, there is no 0805 resistor there, if I see right. There are few capacitors however, but all the resistors are 0402, 0603, 1206, and 2010. The MCU is a Cortex M0. Sorry I can't show the other end, nor side. But you can clearly see the comparison size on the side of he PCB (the 68.1 ohms are 1206 and the 3 capacitors close to the white connector are 0805). Now that I have proven my circuit in situ, I'm going to bring my passive components down to as small as possible. Can't hand-solder 0201 easily, but shouldn't need to... Edit: Oh, BTW... Are you using the shuts to measure current draw? Last fiddled with by chalsall on 2022-09-30 at 22:36 |

Yes. The SO8 giant close the them is the opamp to multiply the voltage. This is common way to measure the currents, nothing special. PCB is done by a colleague, not by me, but I had large contribution to the schematic, and I am making the firmware.
