Auto start in Windoze 10

Since Windows 10 (maybe 10.8) I cannot find the StartUp folder;
other than via Geeky posts that require ....ummm ... something like cmd:shell.

I know George adds Prime95 to autostart at Logon.

I'd like to do the same with misfit.exe and mfaktc.exe.

That folder is for all users... You can also put the shortcut in your personal profile :
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Where it is since the appearance of AppData (Windows Vista ?)

I've recently started making sure to use the %appdata% variable when referring to the user "appdata\roaming" location - side effect of working at a company where the location may vary (possibility of roaming profiles enabled to store stuff in alternate locations).

And "appdata\local" is, you guessed it, %localappdata%

And for the "all users profile", well, %allusersprofile%

Then you just need to know that the start menu is under "microsoft\windows\start menu"

For the record, I despise the way Microsoft has essentially hidden the start menu starting in Win8.

My go to program on my personal machine is the lovely "Classic Shell" ... adds the start menu back. No longer supported, but works on Win10 just fine.

We still use 7 in all places where we were not forced to upgrade (and still use XP 32 bits in some places where we were not allowed to upgrade to 7) and 7 still keeps the old shells, and they can still be accessed or customized (however, not immediately, you have to go to some place like "Control Panel/All Control Panel Items/System/Advanced System Settings/Advanced/Performance/Settings" and start clicking check boxes. Or edit policies, etc. Sometimes things are buggy (for example, if you turn off the "show window content while dragging", then later, when you want to turn it back on, you will have to do it 2 or 3 times until it works). But the things are inside, well hidden. The issue starts with Win10, with its squared corners, finger/smartphone oriented interface, etc, you can't drag window sides unless you waste a minute to catch its side, etc. There, yes, we need to install some third party stuff to go back to the original interface.
