ARM reveals Cortex A72 details
ARM officially announced the details of Cortex A72 yesterday. Licensees should start shipping devices 2016Q1, maybe even sooner.
It isn't an entirely new architecture, but more an improvement/redisign of A57. ARM says it can compete with Core M in some workloads, but I would take that with a grain of salt untill we have independently verified results. I think Baytrail/Cherrytrail like performance is more likely. Qualcomm is not sitting idle and should have their own 64bit ARM design around the same time.
