Not being a GIMPS person myself, I thought someone else would step in to answer your queries.
Please post the list of the files in the problem Prime95 directory/folder and we can take it from there... Last fiddled with by paulunderwood on 2008-05-08 at 14:33 |

markg,
If you were halfway through an LL test, there should have been one or more save files with names like pAnnnnnn and qAnnnnnn, where "nnnnnn" are the last six digits of the exponent you were testing, and "A" is an alphabetic character representing the exponent's first two digits ("A" = 10, "B"= 11, ..., "Z" = 35, "a" = 36, "b" = 37, ...). If you stop Prime95, copy those save files to the new directory, then upon restarting Prime95 will pick up working on those LL tests where it left off before you reinstalled it. If you already have pAnnnnnn and qAnnnnnn files in the new directory, those were created as Prime95 re-started LLing. If the new progress is not yet as far as the old progress was, for each particular exponent, then stop Prime95, replace the new save files with the old ones, and start Prime95. ok, so there is a file 'worktodo.ini' that apparently is the work cued up.
trouble is, it has been written over, and im not sure what to do with this or if changing this will break any link with gimps.... in any event, it was more than half done factoring, the two files names are: p0H29587 q0H29587 neither numbers have any resemblance to the worktodo file... they are both about 10mb any suggestions about getting this back, or just start over again. ok, solved.
i changed the worktodo.ini file to include the number that was in my status page, and its happily continuing along. only trouble now is that the computer names are off, but hopefully that wont be fatal. |
