So far, I have increased the main timings by 1 clock each, but that result does suggest that I'm running (too) close to the edge. ATM, it is at 16-18-18-36. Maybe go to CAS 17?

I think it's been shown that Prime95 isn't very latency sensitive, so backing off one more probably wouldn't hurt performance much.

If the stock times were 15-17-17-35 at 2666, adjusting proportionately for 3200 would give you 18-21-21-42. You're running a very tight overclock at the moment.

Did you mean four cores each doing ~9ms/iter? Cause if you didn't, holy crap that's more than x10 as fast as my 2600K...

Edit: Even if you did, that's still ~3 times as fast as my SNB @ 39.6M

Haswell and later with FMA3 make a huge difference.

My i5-6600's at 3.3 GHz do 39.6M at 3.35 ms/iter, and 68.2M (4096k fft) at 11.9 ms/iter. That's with DDR4-2133. I disable the turbo boost to save power (running at 3.6 GHz is no faster).

I also have a i7-4770k at 3.9 GHz with DDR3-2400 that's slightly faster than my i5-6600's.

Man. That means that even with sub par optimizations for AMD's Zen, it would still blast these SNBs out of the water. Holy cow.

Money is tight, so maybe I'll wait 'til AVX-512 is available in desktop form... or maybe AMD will have open sourced (or at least unlocked) their version of the on-chip crapware...

Sorry. Should have been more specific. That is running all four cores on one worker. The times I gave are actual, per P95. They are also the best I have gotten by reducing other system loads, such as not letting Adobe and Acronis load a dozen services each. Shutting down multi-tabbed Firefox helps, too.
Attached is what it looked like a few minutes ago.
2nd attachment is after a relative clean boot without any other CPU hogs running.
Oops, sort of. I put the exponent out there, but I doubt anyone else could finish before me.
Third attachment is fresh boot with 17-18-18-36 timings.
4th is with multi-tab browser, two cards running mfaktc, etc.

Yeah, and those benchmarks are using only 80 watts per system. I have four on a single Gold-rated power supply, total of ~320 watts, with CPU fan speeds affecting the total depending on room temperature.

AVX-512 may be useful on a 6 core Intel chip with fast quad channel memory. Otherwise there isn't enough memory bandwidth.

The best bang for the buck for Prime95/mprime is still the quad core i5's.

I finally remembered to try out my new system (i7-7700K).

I've spent zero minutes optimizing anything... I just slapped the cpu/memory into my new motherboard and got it all going last week and then promptly forgot about doing anything else at the time.

On an older 4-core Xeon (X5550 @ 2.67 GHz) I'm testing M45523073 using all 4 cores and it's doing ~ 10.75 ms / iteration.

With my new system doing the same exponent I'm doing ~ 2.7 ms / iteration. Pretty big difference just from the clock speed and added features (FMA, AVX2 especially).

I'm using version 28.9 build 2 and it didn't specifically id my 7700K... I keep meaning to get the new version going so maybe George has that now.

Now, back on topic for the thread... here's a new list of strategic double checks...
