Is this book appropriate for a (forum) number theory discussion group?

It's free, looks readable, and table of contents touches on many of the topics we're interested in here at the forum. Looks good to me!

Yes, it would appear to be the next-to-newest edition of a McGraw-Hill book from about 10 years ago, presumably still under copyright.
That was what I attempted in the following post! http://www.mersenneforum.org/showpos...7&postcount=69 The other option we have not yet considered is to write it ourselves, together, on this forum. |

Indeed·
RDS is, IMAO, perhaps the best qualified MF subscriber to write it. Should he be invited back from his exile in the outer wilderness? Fivemack is also way up there in the list of candidates. Again, IMAO. No disrespect intended to any others omitted explicable on the grounds of my incompetent judgement. Please feel free to berate me as appropriate. One thing of which I am sure is that I'm way down the list. Last fiddled with by xilman on 2016-08-19 at 18:59 |

I was just thinking that a forum or thread on algorithms would also be good. For example, "What is the best algorithm for sieving xxx numbers?".

isn't that the computer science and computational number theory forum ? though I do admit there's a lot of threads ( a lot that I've put my opinion out there in though so it really doesn't hit high mathematics).
