I was looking at PSI's website the other day and I noticed that they are not selling a poster for our most recently discovered prime. Has the discovery of ultra-large primes outpaced the ability to print in small enough font?

More likely is that no-one is prepared to pay for it.

Given that IBM has printed its name in characters formed from individual atoms, the entire decimal representation of the prime could fit comfortably on a pin-head.

I can understand that. At least for myself I would be most interested in buying a poster of a prime I discovered on my computer; however, that does not mean that I have zero interest in other posters.

It may also have something to do with Dr. Crandall's passing last year.

I did not know. I looked up his obituary. He seemed like quite the individual.

I should rephrase that. Perhaps not enough people are prepared to pay for it.

I e-mailed them on Feb 2 and got a response that included the following:

I had suggested that the posters be turned into banners instead. One that is 2 feet tall could be printed and be however long needed.

Banners would be useful as well...or just changing the dimensions of the poster (make them wider?). I could foresee banners becoming long enough that it becomes difficult to find a wall spot for them.

I feel like a significant amount of my paper right now is owned by the federal government in the form of Grad Plus loans. Bleh.
