Who knew Intel Core2 Duo can kick ass in sieving i have Intel Core 2 Duo E4300(1.8Ghz Oc'd to 2.02 GHZ 1GB Ram) Running 2 instances of Newpgen and kicking butt @ it. giving me combine speeds of 200+mil kp/s Thats 17T a day on just one machine i am astound

Cruelty an I have QX6700. We were both disappointed (see the relevant thread Quad Core and P95) because there is a serious memory bottleneck. So if Newgpen uses the memory a lot, the timings will be disappointing :-( This is especially true with the NVidia 650 SLI or 680 SLI architecture.

Well, I'm running a Core 2 Duo E6400 @ 3000 MHz, and it is seiving like no other. It makes my Athlon 3700+ @ 2800 MHz seem way slow. I went from (at the range I am currently working) from 14-16 seconds per K, to about 6 second per K. Not a bad increase....

Skligmund can you post what is the speed that you are getting on your C2D? in terms of kp/s or even average T per day.

Well, as of right now, I have done 5.3T on one core, and 4.8T on the other core since my last post. This is at around the 1900-1930 Range.

As of now, I am averaging 28T per 24 hours, give or take a tenth. I'm at 22.8T complete as of now (4.5 hours from zero time).
My somewhat overclocked Athlon64 X2 3800+ @ 2.25 GHz has completed 11.8T with a 15 minute headstart, and me not using it at all either. I listen to MP3's, surf the web, watch videos ect. on this C2D. The X2 doesn't even have a keyboard, mouse, monitor plugged in. Everything that can be disabled, is disabled. Impressive in my book. The C2D is about twice as fast (though it does have a 750MHz advantage per core) as the X2. |

Does any one have Quad core QX6700 with enough RAM maybe 2-4GB @ least who can run four separate instances of NPG and sieve for a day or atlease provide some avg numbers? Greatly appereciated.

Just as a reference: I'm currently running NewPGen on my 2xDual Xeon 5160@3.2GHz (2GB RAM) machine. While PrimeGrid is running on 3 cores, NewPGen is doing about 9.5T per 24h with 6sec/k.
Would I completly switch on sieving, it would be something around 30 to 40T per day but I do not know how well the memory scales up. -D |

Since this project expects to be sieving for 3? years, have you thought about putting some effort into writing a new sieve for 64-bit machines?
I am not familliar with the actual sieve algorithm you are using, but I would be surprised if you couldn't get at least a 50% increase in throughput just by compiling for the Core2 or AMD64 in their native 64-bit modes instead of 32-bit compatibility mode. |

That's a good idea, I'm using windows x64 already. My core2duo goes 60% faster in one application just because of the 64 bit capability!

I'm seeing ~17-20sec/k on my C2D e6600 while sieving 5150T - 5160T. Not sure if this is the expected, or on-par value, but there you go.
