Hi,

In a small garage, far far away, close to the Prime Meridian, Greenwich, London, UK you will find the home of the Prime Monster, its smaller brother, the Seti Monster, a host of other computers, and me .

The Prime Monster is a home-built personal super-computer (PSC) kept solely for the purpose of participating in the GIMPS project. The Seti Monster is another home-built personal super-computer built to look for ET.

As you can probably understand I am fairly dedicated to Distributed Computing of various different types.

I also run a number of DC oriented web sites, from my own Prime Monster site, to a host of Ars Distributed Computing Team sites.

I am particularely interested in running headless, diskless, network booted systems. All to maximise the price - performance ratio of my distributed computing systems.

I also run one of the GIMPS FAQs and a Gallery of Monsters and Distributed Computing farms. They can both be found on the Prime Monster site.

And, yes, I am a member of Ars Team Prime Rib, and just passed 500 P90 years of credit

Hello. I live in Cowtown, USA. I doubt that a town named that actually exists, but if you were a resident you'd know what I mean.

I don't do LL tests because in my opinion they just take too darn long, so just TFs. Speaking of which, I just passed 50 CPU years of credit. Not bad considering I've only got 8 CPUs running Prime95, most of which aren't on 24/7. I'm planning to change that though. I'll (eventually) get around to building a basement farm of my own.

Now I'm going to end this post so I can stop using cycles that Prime95 would better use.

Hi, I live in Rome, Italy, and lead GIMPS Team_Italia together with Guido.

Today we passed 1000 LL P90 CPU years, but apart from a deep interest in Number Theory, I look pretty normal

My passion for crunching farms grew up when I read about Prime Monster farm (I can't stand computers sitting idle, while they could do something useful for Mankind).

My own machines are hidden behind my desk; I use them via RealVNC so you can see only one Keyboard, Mouse and Video on it.

We actually run 44 different boxen, both at home and "remotely". Oh, yes, it's fine to have so many friends... as long as they accept to be borged

Luigi

P.S. I just noticed we have a limit in posting emoticons at once...

Hi!

I live in Zagreb, Croatia.

I just recently start GIMPSing and recently I did my first LL test (it wasn't Mersenne prime unfortunately) and have 2 P90 years so far. Tomorow will be finished my second LL test (hardly wait).

I run Prime95 on 4 machines (total = 6.5GHz) and actively work on borging some more (resistence is futile).

In my spare time (when I'm not looking for new machines for GIMPS ) I work as research assistant at local research institute and also I'm PhD candidate at Graduate School of Economics and Business here in Zagreb.

Month ago I become father of one sweet little girl Iva.

I find this forum to be very friendly place. I learn some useful things here, and allways find someone who is willing to help me with my newbie problems.

Happy hunting!

Edo

For anyone whose mother tongue isn't English, "boxen" is just humor. The correct plural is obviously "boxes".

Shame on me... I read "-en" instead of "-es", so many times in these fora (pl. of forum, from latin :-DDD) that I didn't even thought it could be misunderstood...

Anyway, it's a good point to clarify each and every possible fault!

And, just to be honest, we actually have only 43 uniquely named machined assigned to PrimeNet. :-)

Hi all,

Here in Quebec(Canada) the winter started today as it came down with 50 cm of snow. I stay warm at the few computers running 24hr. I used to LL test and TF but it`s taking too long now. So I`m finding primes of 210885*2^n-1

I work for a Brick company and since the construction industry slows down in the winter I always get laid off 3 months. This gives me plenty of time to do math research.

But folks with a DEC background are accustomed to using "Vaxen" as the plural of "Vax", so it seems natural to extend that to "box" -> "boxen", especially since they share endings and rhyme with "ox" and its usual plural "oxen".
