I'm running Prime 95 under wine in Ubuntu 9.04, running two workers on a dual core machine. after a HD upgrade i reinstalled prime 95 from a tar.gz and it extracted to my desktop. i didn't like the folder there so i used [mv /desktop/username/p95v259 ~/.wine/C:/Program\ Files/] to move the folder. and it's still running but i think the path of the save files is now wrong because every three or so GUI outputs in the workers i get "error writing intermediate file p01XXXXX" where the X's are the last digits of the exponent being tested. i'm merely comfortable with linux, not an expert but any help in getting this problem solved would be appriciated

Prime95 (and mprime) save its configuration and intermediate files to the current folder (the folder where the executable is...)
Did you stop Prime95 before moving the folder ? If you did not, recreate the "p95v259" folder in its original location : "/desktop/username/". Stop and exit the program and transfer the files from the old location "/desktop/username/p95v259" to the new folder and restart the program from there. It that does not solve the problem you should look in the .txt configuration files to see if there is a hardcoded path. If that does not solve the problem it is the new path that gives the problems. What path do you see when you open a comand prompt under wine in the new p95v259 folder ? mprime has a gui if I am not mistaken (mprime -m ?). And since the configuration files are compatible there should be no problem with attaching to your user account. Jacob Last fiddled with by S485122 on 2009-07-28 at 04:55 |

I'm almost certain that mprime is command line only, and mprime -m brings you to a text-based version of the menu present in Prime95 (e.g. press 1 for Test, etc.).
Bingo. If getting it all set up in mprime would be too hard, you can just set it up in Prime95 through wine, then copy the config files to your mprime folder (or copy mprime's executable to your prime95 folder) and run mprime. |
