Default new project

I saw the new project has just started.
it's really good seeing a new project starting, it prove that's the current is almost done.

i see for a same machine, the 10_223 is faster then the 2_811M. its cool.
what's the expected time to complete tha one ?
and if possible, more info on this project would appreciated.

Thanks.

The number is the 201-digit co-factor of 10^223+1. It's a most wanted number from the Cunningham project. It will probably take around 2-3 weeks to sieve, depending on how many contributors we have.

More info later. Very busy finishing off the old one right now.

thx for the info, i'm still waiting the stat for the March 3 :)
i've sent work today, so we'll see what it looks like.

soon, im gonna start a site for benchmark for different type of machine, so we'll be able to see the difference between some CPUs.

I'd love to see relative benchmarks on different processors, but unfortunately they're only valid for a single project. For new contributors to compare in the future, they'll have to be updated for each new project. Sounds like quite an undertaking! To get you started, though, Opteron 144 OCed to 1890MHz with 1GB dual channel DDR400 RAM running the Linux client (tho probably that shouldn't matter) completes 20450 lines/day on the current project.

Edit: Actually, the admins have this info already, at least for those of us who opted to submit tech info. After all the server knows exactly how many lines to give each computer so that it will run for 2 hours within a few seconds usually. Any chance of posting the relative benchmarks on a stats page?

I've to finish the translation in french, then start the benchmark' site.

I'll keep ya in touch about these jobs.

yep, about 3 weeks to complete the project.
That's really good :)

22050222.2289/1046546 = 21.0695203354 days at yesterday's rate.
#total Lines to sieve / lines sieved for yesterday

my roomate is impressed by our work, so when he gonna buy his new motherboard, he gonna start the client too ;)

so it's really good.

P4 with 800 MhZ seems really fast for NFSnet, that's coool.

any suggestions of what type of machine should i buy to dedicate it to NFS ? (less then 1 500$CAD).

later

My 1.89GHz Opteron runs the client at just under double the speed of both my 2.4GHz P4 and 2.16GHz Athlon-XP. I suspect that the Athlon 64 would do the same but can't yet confirm that. Within the next 2-3 weeks I'm getting a new Athlon 64 3200+ (2 GHz) machine for my lab for about US$1000 with monitor. I'll let you know how it does.
