Frankly, I think it's time we had another update on v5 progress. Being optimistic again, but maybe that server outage a few days ago was a test of the v5 server!

Hope you are right...

Anyway, I'd be pleased to know why a thread is cancelled by the board without a mention.

You want to PM Xyzzy or should I? Or maybe if we keep posting he'll take notice, walk in, and tell us without having to PM him?

Just curious...

What exactly is it about version 5? Is the software being changed in some way? How will the changes affect searchers? Will there be any new features or is it just a way of making thingsmore efficient?

v4 server has some... shall we say, interesting quirks. For no apparent reason, it likes to stop updating the stats now and then. People also want some new features added. The ability to do just P-1 testing was heavily requested (though wether we're getting it I don't know). v5 should also improve stats and separate teams and individuals better.

i know im new but it might be there doing more hten version 5 cause if version 5 handles things differently and adds features they need to redo part of the client.

The v5 team is handling the server. George may have to revamp the client code depending on how extensive the changes are.

I think the changes will affect the user and communication interface only. And I'm pretty sure that George has already put some routines in his code to be ready to handle it

The threads should have been moved to the server forum... Scott hasn't signed in since January 12th, so I decided to merge his group of forums back into the main forum, to save space...

Edit: Hmm, I can't find them either... I'll look into it...
