Well, in that example, anyone who may be able to post a new copy of the original sieve data for people wanting to reserve that range. Perhaps a post saying the links to the data were dead wasn't an explicit enough call to action for anyone in a position to act?

![]() If such a BOINC project is never formed, and if Gary has no additional ports for TPS, I would be willing to temporarily suspend the n=3.322M search on port 13000 and use port 13000 for testing the remaining n=1.29M candidates. Last fiddled with by MooMoo2 on 2023-09-17 at 07:05 |

Automated Email notifications have become a fairly extensive technical issue to resolve and it may be several more weeks to months before they work again. It may involve moving servers to a newer machine. At NPLB, I have resorted to manually Emailing or PMing people when they find a top-5000 prime. If it's not top 5000 like this one, I won't send an Email.

Also, I will note that the TPS PRPNet servers (just like the CRUS ones) have never been integrated into NPLB's stats system that sends out the automatic emails. We used to have PRPNet set up to send out the emails itself for those servers a long time ago, but that hasn't worked for years.
Basically, the issue is that our server machine is positively ancient and the mail server it's running just doesn't know how to talk to modern mail servers at ISPs any more. (That's a bit of an oversimplification, but not much.) At some point in the next year, we will need to do a major upgrade to a new machine and operating system; but we're not really in a position to do that right now since I'll need to help with that and I'm super busy at work until the American school year (~August-May) is over. In the meantime, we will probably need to rely on manually checking for primes (and Gary sending out emails manually for top-5000 primes) until we can get our infrastructure improved. |
