Sierp base 3 - mini-drive II

We have started mini drive II for Sierp base 3. The range is k=100M-200M and n=25K-100K.

There were 471 k's remaining to begin with. The drive found 328 k's with primes so there are now 143 k's remaining for this k-range.

We are going to run this drive a little bit differently. In order to make it easier to adminster and search, we will be posting files in 4 separate k-ranges but for larger n-ranges than previously. Higher n-ranges for the same k-ranges will not be posted unless requested. This will avoid the confusion related to several people searching the same k's at once with several primes being found for the same k. Feel free to give your opinions on this new method of searching.

You should be able to complete the files in about 2-4 CPU days. As we find primes, we'll remove k's from files for larger n-ranges. Files up to n=100K are fully sieved to P=150G.

Correct. I've eliminated 17 k's so far, (at n=28606) and verified all PRPs with PFGW.

I'm extending my reservation to n=40K now. So now my reservation is the full file of k=100M-125M, n=25K-40K. I'll post results and primes once I finish.

i've tried to delete the found k from the testfile to minimize the timing, but found 136036094*3^36835+1, too, during a night-running.

Wow. This drive is so much easier administratively splitting up the k-ranges in this manner. Later today or tomorrow, I'll just have to remove the 88 k's found prime so far from n=40K-100K and I'll be able to post k=100M-150M for n=40K-50K. The key is that I can do it at a much more leasurely pace and only need to do it on one file at a time.

Note to all: We won't post any files at higher n-ranges until lower files for the same k-range are complete. For example, I won't post k=150M-175M for n=40K-50K until Tim is done with the same for n=25K-40K but I will post k=100M-150M for n=40K-50K as I get time. That removes all confusion. If the demand becomes too great with multiple people wanting files, I'll just increase the n-ranges in the files so that people have to take longer to complete them -or- if there are more than 4 people wanting files, I can split the files into smaller k-ranges and even larger n-ranges. The key is that people aren't searching files where others have or are likely to find primes at lower n-ranges for k's that are in their file. It works well all the way around.

Use -tp for -1 and -tm for +1 for the primality test.
