I can't find an operating range for this card. I mounted a fan to blow into the card from the exterior, but the fan I used seems insufficient as it allows too much blowback around the fins. I watched the temperature rise to 75C and stopped its operation. I'll try a couple of different approaches, but wondered what I should try to keep below.

Still haven't found anything authoritative, but I did find a couple of generalities for NVidia cards that say 75-85C and max is ~90C. My latest fan mount seems stable at 72C, so I'll run it there for a while.

The ones you have stated are consistent with many Nvidia boards I have seen throughout the years. When a board hits its max temp. the board will pause until the temps go down, then resume. Thanks! Yeah, I've been using techpowerup for some time now and am always quite pleased with their data.
I put a two-second (default) watch on nvidia-smi and saw it cycle up to around 72C and hover there during an ECM run, so I think my present fan setup is sufficient. I haven't tried anything else, like Afterburner. I'll find out more this summer as to the fan setup. |

I've run two of these fans (I got them on sale) on one of my boxes that has four 970's and two others that run 3 gpu's each (980/970 mix) without issue. There are better ways which I've implemented as necessary but this works when you need it to. Internal and external thermometers/condensation...etc..always a consideration. |

Thanks! I'll see how the current ventilation works out. This particular case has some pretty extreme ventilation already, but the K20Xm doesn't have its own. The current case fan mounted across the card's backplane appears to be working.

Just as a data point, the two K20c's in my workstation typically run at about 65 °C. 72 °C sounds reasonable, but keep an eye on it. The passively cooled cards are designed for loud, high-volume fans.
