Default Announcing GIMPS Visualization Tool 2.0

Hey all.

I'm pleased to announce version 2.0 of the GIMPS Visualization Tool at http://www.mersenne.info/.

Main additions and improvements:

o Exponent Status Reports and Graphs (Prime, Factored, DC, LL, Unproven).

o Trial Factored reports now show higher bit levels when lower levels have been cleared (useful to Uncwilly and his team).

o New, more friendly URL schema (old URLs will automatically redirect to new).

o Larger fonts for graph labels.

o More logical menu layout.

o Complete rework of the back end in preparation for additional reports (still being worked on).

If anyone sees any problems, or have suggestions for additional reports they would like to see, please let me know.

An example of the new Exponent Status graph is attached.

Right now on the bar graphs I see ">75" as the maximum. Is that the way it should be?

I like the way it links over to the PrimeNet server at the max res.

The idea is cool....but one observation:

Your counts are a little off the primenet server
i.e.

21,000,000 ... 23,000,000
you have 28, 198, 480
Primenet has 21, 134, 266

There are others

It's not the way it should be -- I forgot to expand the factoring graph to go above 75. That was a last-minute change on the Tabular Data view. Thanks for pointing it out.

Also, thanks for mentioning the link-through to PrimeNet. I forgot to mention that feature.

The space between the number and the M on the X-axis makes for some ugly overlap on some of the graphs (especially those that are zoomed in).

Also the attached graph points to an area that seems to have data problems.

Number of exponents with no known factor in the 1 - 1B range: 23111579 (as of today)

Seems quite a large jump... on the 29th of December there were 23297367. The rate of progress since August 2010 has been waaay slower than this.

Have you (chalsall) made some change in the way you query the server, some recalculation, some..... ??

For a start, the "visulation" [sic!] misses out on the extreme top end:

http://www.mersenne.info/trial_facto...a/3/999000000/

But that's only 11,000-or-so exponents.

Whoops...

Thanks to "monst" for PMing me on this this week, although Uncwilly noticed this almost immediately. (I should have dealt with it then, but this tool is just a hobby of mine, and I took time away from other work to bring the new version on-line.)

There wasn't a change to the way I query the server, but in the way I was interpreting the results. Or, more exactly, detecting if I had received a full query result. Previously incomplete results would "fix themselves" the next day; not with version 2.0.

This has been fixed as of today.

While this is a hobby, I do want the tool to be both useful and accurate.

"ckdo": Could you please elaborate on the error you're seeing? Because as I see it, the data is accurately represented in the range you reference.

If anyone sees any further problems (including spelling), please PM me or post here -- I'll pay closer attention to this thread for the next little while.

Thanks.
