First the personal news... I start a new job next week which means I'll no longer be doing any LL testing of my own (no machines to do them on). So, that's unfortunate, but I'm really looking forward to the new job.

If you want to keep just a few LL tests running, try the cloud.
With c5.large spot instances on AWS, the cost fluctuates but currently it's about $2.50 to $3.00 per week per core. |

Similar situation here. I changed jobs last year, and as much as I love my new job, the company I currently work at is fairly small doesn't have many spare computers I could use. I miss being able to contribute 300 GHz-days per day. :-(

Yes, I was not complaining about the cost, I was just showing what the cost of a c5.large was in terms of PRP and LL different sized exponents instead of cost per week.
Cost per week does not tell you that, if you do not know how long exponents takes on a c5.large. I'm probably one of the last people here to think I finish any exponents for free with my high electricity cost: My 8 core finishes a 75-76M in about 60 hours. For $6 I get roughly 15 KWh or 54 MJ and to use that in 60 hours I could use 250W constantly. I'm not sure how much by 8 core computer uses since I run LL test on the graphic card as well, but it is probably not that much lower than that, so my cost at home is in the ballpark of the c5.large, just faster completion. |
