Default mfakto@Radeon 5500

Sorry for my poor english...

I am new in GPU-computing.

I installed new graphics card(GPU: Radeon RX5500 XT 8GB), and i surprised, that mfakto is running 13-15% slover, as in the previous card(RX570 4GB) - ~490GHz-d/d ~575Ghz-d/d.
what can be done with it?

mfakto 0.15pre6, Win10

I looked here: https://www.mersenne.ca/mfaktc.php
The RX 5500 XT rates 371.9 GHz-d/d
The RX 570 rates 458.7 GHz-d/d

That fits with what you are seeing.

There's also a decent chance it's not using the best kernels. try running with --perftest.

But yeah... those gpu's were made for gaming and in most compute benchmarks it falls behind quite a bit.

Regardless of gpu model, tune for performance. Mfakto has some of the same tuning parameters as mfaktc. https://www.mersenneforum.org/showpo...99&postcount=8

I was curious about the possibility of maybe borrowing mlucas' primenet.py script to fetch work for mfakto. I thought that maybe it could be used in conjunction with something like entr to see if the worktodo.txt file had been emptied when last edited, then if it is, running primenet.py to get more. Has anyone done something like this before? If so, were they successful? If not, am I heading down a dead end path, or is there some merit to this idea?

Well, I did some more digging on my own and couldn't really find anything. Decided that I wasn't going to use mlucas' primenet.py since I found mfloop, and instead I wrote a wrapper around mfakto and mfloop using tmux and entr. If someone else would like to double-check my work I'd really appreciate it since I'm still new to writing Shell scripts. Here's a link to the source as a GitHub Gist.
