Yes. A method that requires you to define the range in advance (m in your case), then iterate over it (For j = 0 To m) is going to be equivalent to a sieve. As slandrum said, you'll run out of memory and time very quickly. Consider that by the time you reach 50 digit primes, your array will need to have around the same number of elements as the number of atoms on earth.

That fact that you came up with the sieve from no prior knowledge is a good thing. We all have to start somewhere. Stick around, read things, read more, ask questions.

You're not a crackpot in my book. For one thing, your method is theoretically sound. More importantly, from the crackpottery standpoint, you accept the fact that the method you used is already known, and you're obviously willing to learn.
