What "noise" will Prime95 make if you click "Make noise if new Mersenne prime is found"?

I have no idea, but you could put a real small prime into worktodo.ini and find out...

On Linux, when I was doublechecking M41, I had told it to log all console text to a log file... Well, mprime wrote something like "xxx is prime!!!" a bazillion times to the screen and as a result the text file ended up being like 16gb...

I think that doesn't work. It only works on new primes IIRC

There was a save file for M41 around that had 99%+ done. You could use that. Look in the lounge for the "Quick Look" thread

If you have Windows XP, it give the "Error" sound (ding), and keeps repeating it non-stop. It also keeps the Prime 95 task bar highlighted, and floods the screen with "New Mersenne Prime Found!"

I assume this is the file? It doesn't seem to work on my computer.

What is the file extension .024? My files are pX###### or pY###### and have no file extension.

I do believe that it is the save file at 24mil iterations, thus .024

Save it to your P95 directory, with out the extension.
Stop and exit P95.
Edit your worktodo.ini to put M41 at the top to test (Look for the value and how to edit else where).
Restart p95. In a while you will here the sound.
