Right before my eyes, I just lost all work on two partially completed LL exponents: 29014421 and 26177761. The first LL exponent, 29014421, was within 3 hours of completing

Chose Test/Continue to restart." I suspect that this might have been a transient Windows XP problem as I got other error messages about other Windows applications failing due to lack of resources, etc. during the time that Prime95 was writing its error messages to the Prime95 window. Also, Window Task Manager refused to start when I pressed Ctrl Alt Delete during my efforts to halt Prime95 execution. Even with out a re-boot, every thing now appears to be back to normal. Task Manager works normally, my internet dial up software works normally, etc. I am at a loss to explain what happened. This computer has 1GB of physical memory and 10GB of unused disk space available to it, so lack of resources should not have been a problem. Any ideas guys and gals? How long has your machine been running continuously without rebooting? Windows machines like to be rebooted every four to six weeks (or more often).
Are you in danger of running out of disk space? Have you defragmented your disk recently? Would you consider updating to the latest Prime95 software? |

Error reading intermediate file: pF025037 It happened both on my work machine (AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with 512 MB ram, running Gentoo Linux x86) and my home machine (AMD Athlon 64 3800+ with 1 GB ram, running Gentoo Linux Amd64). Prime version was 24.13 and 24.14, I think. |
