(Edit option for longer term would be cool)

I also tried fresh start with this Prime95 version and this way too it crashes frequently, so "remnants of old Prime95" factor is defeated too... Are there anything else you want me to tell or files to post or something?

Do you know if it crashes because it is contacting the server ... or does it die simply doing the LL test?

Well, here is screenshot from when I started Prime95 just now... I suppose it just dies... At least I can't figure out anything specific...

ADD: My status page shows also some weirdness now I looked in it... "Kellari" was the name when I used Prime95 v24 stable... I changed name to "Suvilahti" in this test versions and there still are Many kellari entries after that... It seems that name got changed when I started from clean table with test version, also I specifically requested over 10,000,000 digit numbers to crunch, if that means anything...

Here is snippet from statistics:

While I'm not asking for beta testers, I will look at any bugs you report. Dual core machines and weird firewall/proxy situations are most likely to exercise the new code paths and thus find bugs.

from the readme.txt:

WARNING: Pre-beta software. Read this file carefully.

Do not install over your existing prime95. Copy your existing prime95
folder to a new folder and then replace the prime95.exe in the new folder
with this pre-beta version.

Save files created by this prime95 cannot be read by previous versions.

There are no dialog boxes for entering your password, user name, and email
address. These must be in the prime.txt file.

Your prime.ini, local.ini, worktodo.ini files will be renamed with a .txt
extension. Primenet.ini will become a section within prime.txt.

In prime.txt, in the [PrimeNet] section, add the line "debug=1". This
version uses the cURL library for communications.

Multiple threads are now supported. In Worktodo.txt, the assignments
for the second cpu come after the [Thread #2] section header. To merge
two v24 folders into one v25 client, you'll have to move the save files
and update the worktodo.txt file manually.

Expect bugs. Multi-threading has introduced massive changes to the source
code. Also, this client was designed to work with a new server protocol.
I've retrofitted it to work with the current server. Obviously, the new
work types are not supported by the old server.

Linux version is not available.

User interface comments are welcome. Bug reports are welcome.

Is there, by any chance, a linux version of this build?

I've made a lot of progress with the 2 tests I've been running and am now installing Linux to dual-boot. It would be great to be able to use the same save files from the Linux environment.

No chance. I haven't written the threads and locking routines for linux yet

I've approached the end of a test, and this software is requesting trial-factoring assignments even though I have it configured to test 10,000,000 digit exponents.

Being a Core duo processor (2.16 GHz), I would think it would be prioritized for LL testing anyway.

I'm getting crashes on a P-1 test. I think it finished stage 1, now it will only run for about 3 or 4 minutes when I start it. When it crashes, the VisualStudio debug window give a memory access error 0xffffffff.

To give more background, thread 1 is running an LL test and thread 2 is running P-1. It is allocated 1 GB ram out of 2 GB on the PC. Intel Core Duo processor.

The strange thing is that you had a couple of us running a series of P-1 tests previously to test the multi-threaded app, and it was working fine, then.

Is there a way to skip P-1 testing?

To fool Prime95 to thnk P-1 is already done modify your worktodo file : change le last parameter to 1.

Test=32512841,67,0 => P-1 must be done
Test=32512841,67,1 => P-1 has been completed

Cfr worktodo.ini format that post has not been contradicted (yet :-)

I finally have a dual core PC. Should I install this new version? Or should I wait for this version to be official? I hate it when my PC only shows 50% of CPU usage. I want 100%.

You can just run a second instance of Prime95 (the current stable version), and set the affinities so that they run on separate cores. Running one test on two cores/CPUs reduces the efficiency anyway.
