You just might be addicted to GIMPS if you succeed to convince CERN to shut down the large hadron collider and invest billions of euros in GIMPS because all these three-sigma detector bumps are pure numerology and are nowhere near six-sigma to claim a discovery. Furthermore, the Higgs boson was duly discovered and the standard model is complete.

Oh, wait, but isn't the search for another Mersenne prime the most extreme numerology of all by trying to find a number that might not exist?
