Default A few computers seem to have stopped reporting...

I hadn't had much time to peruse my computers' progress the past few weeks but just noticed that three of the lesser desktop models I've been using for double-checks seem to have stopped reporting progress to the GIMPS server, based upon my CPU page. They are still processing double-check files as I can see on each machine, but none of the three has posted an update with GIMPS since between July 27 and August 3. I swapped out both the primary ethernet cord to the multiport switch that those three machines are connected to, then swapped out the switch box itself, but the machines still aren't reporting to GIMPS. I've never seen this happen before.

EDIT: One of the three apparently just updated, still waiting to see about the other two. Not sure yet if it was the new switch box that made the difference.

It looks like everything is up and running again. I'm guessing I just had a dead switch. I'm using the same ethernet cable as before but everything looks great now.

My first thought would be to log on to each of them in turn and ping the GIMPS server. That would tell you if their connection to the internet was OK, they could do DNS lookups, etc.

A faulty switch would probably block everything, not just selectively block some types of connection.

Usually in cases like this the switch isn't faulty, it just needed to be power cycled.

Managed switch recommended https://community.spiceworks.com/top...witch-hangs-up
Allows things like cacti, prtg, etc, and building network maps that self update for up/down status, locating traffic hogs, network cuts at a glance, etc. https://www.dnsstuff.com/free-networ...oring-software

Put your lips together, and blow.

Edit: To be a bit more serious...

ping mersenne.org should work in most OSs.

For the more advanced, traceroute -n mersenne.org does a one-off test with more information.

For the serious interactive console users, mtr mersenne.org is just the start of the fun...

FWTW.

And now I can't even set one of the DC computers to zero days worth of work to complete the assignment it has now and then I plan to take that computer offline. How can I unassign this job which is less than 7 percent complete? Do I have to unreserve the exponent using the P95 app or can it be unreserved through the CPU profile on my member page? I powered off that computer since it looked like the P95 preferences were malfunctioning.

No need to unreserve. Copy the worktodo.txt line and the save files to one of your other computers.
