Question A couple questions from a new guy

1)Okay I am on a college campus, I take my laptop with me all over campus and sometimes I am not connected to the internet.

1a)Can I let Prime95 still run?
1b)Should I still let it run even though I am not connected to the internet?
1c)When I connect to the internet after letting it run while off the internet will it upload my data?

2)About workers...
2a)Can I add more?
2b)Should I add more?
2c)And is there an advantage to adding more?

3)When bringing it to another computer, a couple files I copy seem odd they're names are like f9X15537 and f9X26047.

3a)What do those mean/what are they?
3b)Should I copy those over as well when adding a new computer?

Apologies if these are listed somewhere I could not find them.
Thank you for the help, this is awesome!

Yes. You can configure it to check periodically for an internet connection, then automatically download new work units, upload results, and renew assignments queued but not completed. Or you can set it to only communicate when you tell it to.

By default, the client will queue several days worth of work (not sure how much). This can be increased to several months (not sure what the limit is) for those who can communicate only rarely. Be warned though, that assignments expire after 60 days if not renewed, so be sure to communicate at least that often.

To fully utilise your CPU you should have as many workers as you have physical cores. I understand that hyperthreaded CPUs also benefit from additional workers to run on the virtual cores, but I'm not sure if this is always the case, or how much benefit there actually is.

Those are save files for work units started but not completed. The five digits at the end are the last five digits of the exponent being processed.

No, copy only the files that come with the package, plus prime.txt

Thanks again.
I will be checking the forums often, I'll probably be in the homework help section though :P
I am going to try and spread it among my friends, and the math department on campus.
