ARGON
IODINE
IONIUM
IRON
NITROGEN
NOBELIUM
OXYGEN
PLATINUM
TANTALUM
TIN

Hint: Iron is first.

Perhaps if you explained why IONIUM is mixed in with a bunch of chemical elements the question might be a little easier.

It wouldn't spoil your rhyming couplet if you replaced "nary" with "only".

Ha ha ha, you're right, I cut exhaustive search by a factor of ten!

Perhaps I should have hinted simply that Ionium is a mythical
form of non-neutral neutronium, with atomic symbol Io.

i'd just like to say that the third puzzle thread above
includes a progression to a new cosmology,
in attachments cosmo1.txt, cosmo2.txt, cosmo3.txt,
and especially cosmo4.txt late in the thread.

Presto indeed. I was certainly impressed, I thought it might take extra effort.
He had also solved at least one and perhaps all of my other elemental puzzles.
I'm glad, in spite of any differences we all might have, to have both of you
within reach within this forum. I'll have to put exceptional effort into my next
such puzzle, should I try to produce another one, to make it even more challenging.
