L.S.,
I have installed Linux on a number of machines. What I lack is clear instructions on how to install and run mprime. Can someone post a message with instructions on how to work with mprime for Linux newbees? |

The quickest way to have mprime running is:
1. Download (or move) the mprime tar.gz into a suitable directory. (I use ~/mprime) 2. Unpack the tarball. 3. To run the program open a terminal and type path_to_mprime/mprime or "cd" into the mprime directory and type ./mprime Last fiddled with by Pablo the Duck on 2004-01-11 at 16:33 |

No!!!! Do not join Team Primerib - for that is the path of darkness and woe be unto them that follow it.

Hello,
The easy way to install mprime may be with RPM packages for mprime. GP2 and me began to write RPMS for mprime. Mine was for SuSE and their for RedHat. We decided is a good thing to have an only source rpm capable to generate suited binary RPMS for both distributions. See the thread http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthr...&threadid=1845 I sent to GP2 a draft of 'joined' RPMS more than week ago, but I have not received any response. I guess he is out (perhaps vacations) because of the lack of posts in this Forum, and he always has been very active member. Meanwhile, I have RPMS for SuSE 8.2 and SuSE 9.0, both running in my systems. You can download them from http://www.oxixares.com/rpms/SuSE_8.2/ http://www.oxixares.com/rpms/SuSE_9.0/ But note, anyway you installed mprime you should read the 'readme.txt' as starting point. Guillermo. |
