Last month's Popular Science also wrote that Seti was the first distributed computing project, but alas they did mention GIMPS.

Hey that's the article that brought me in! So kudos to whoever organized that with the journalists. I'm pleased to be on board with a bunch of friends who are all so cool and intelligent (I can see that from here 8) )
