Default Evil as it is

What is the greatest evil?
It can be a feature, phenomenon, event, being, any definition that, in your opinion, has already harmed, harms or may harm humanity or life on Earth, and maybe even in the whole Universe.

With that, I agree. There is no way to deny that. It is like in Genesis when Adam and Eve ate from that tree – they are told to knew what was good and what was evil after they ate it. Only after that problems began.

I like your answer. I also tend to think that the mind is a parasitic entity. This is a gadget that in some cases takes on too much.
The mind has one significant drawback - it is its finitude. As a result, it generates fears that paralyze the development of personality.

And I would complement the Intellect with two more types of evil.
I find dogmatism to be the main social evil. It is dogmatism that is the cause of all wars on Earth.
The main cosmological evil, I think, is the limitation on the signal transmission rate. It is this flaw that gives rise to many physical phenomena, including the phenomenon of time.

And now, of course, there will be various upstarts who will begin to dispute even the prepositions in my sentences :)

Evil is lack/void of goodness. As such it would be interesting to see any such thing exists as absolute evil/goodness.
For mice cats are evil. For cats mice are sustenance.

Of course, goodness or evil are subjective things. And depend on who is looking. Again, something bad can be evil for a short period of time, and turn into goodness for a long period of time. That is, of course, everything is relative.

But, if we do not go into absolute truths (as a result of which it becomes clear that there is neither goodness nor evil), then we should assume that loss, pain or suffering is evil. And prosperity, happiness and new opportunities are goodness.

I make my judgments on the basis of these premises. Just so as not to go into endless demagoguery.

The following version of this story is found in Nizami’s Makhzan al-asrar:

Jesus’ feet which had wandered across the world
Once stepped past a marketplace.
He noticed the carcass of a dog,
Abandoned like Joseph in the well.
A group of men were looking at the carcass
As if they were vultures.
One of them said: “Phew! This darkens
The mind like wind blowing out a torch!”

Another said: “It also blinds the eye
And makes one feel sick!”

Each person there continued in this vein,
Venting their ill-will on that carcass.
When it was Jesus’ turn to speak,
He did not comment on its flaws, but perceived its inner truth,
Saying: “A painting hanging on one’s wall
Does not have teeth as white as this dog’s!”

Those two bystanders then out of fear and hope
Desisted from their talk, shown up by those white teeth.
Don’t look at others’ flaws and your own virtue.
Turn your gaze inwards towards yourself.
(Nizami, Makhzan al-asrar, pp. 83-4)

I don't think it has anything to do with the topic of the thread. Well, ok, let it be.
