Hi Pepi

Thanks for your interest in RPS.
We prefer to test the numbers sequentially, and it will be nice if you can consider to take next available files currently starting at 2870k.

And forgive me for asking, but have you done prime search before, and on such large numbers? If not, can I suggest that you start first with smaller numbers, like the ones in our 7th or 8th Drive.

BTW, k=15 in the 3320-3400k range contains about 3000 candidates. Testing time per candidate is about 140 minutes on traditional non-AVX cores, and about 50 minutes on AVX ones. Meaning 10 cpu/months (non-AVX), or 3.5 cpu/months (AVX). Can you handle such a load? While the probability to find a prime is not more than 0.1% Would you really enjoy a role in such an unfavorable scenario?

Also, we prefer correct results over speed. It will be nice if you can stress test your machines first, using GIMPS stress test, and resist the temptation of over-clocking.

Hi :)
Dont worry about me, and range I reserved :) First of all I need to say that I already make search in much bigger range on Proth search ( nearly 8900 candidates) when I search for my first "big prime" That range was done in 58 days, so 2900 candidates from this range will be over in litle more then month ( I need to complete few small ranges on Proth search)
I give my residue to Primegrid, and they confirm that I didnot miss any prime and residues was correct. So my computers are very well tested :)
Second my goal is only MEGA prime, so that is reason why I chose this range. So if it is not problem for you, or members on this forum I will continue to search on this range because I already stated.

I hope you know where to find the latest sieved files.

Please post your result residues to this thread when you are done.
Also, if possible please post 1-2 progress reports on the way.

BTW, what's your "big prime"?

I took sieve from JimB web page and it has date 25.03.2013..
No problem, residue will be uploaded to my DropBox and posted here.
My big prime have ~ 870.000 digits :)
I will post progress at 33, 66 and 100 % :)

How would you like to proceed now?
You can continue with k=15 from 3400 to 3500k, or maybe take k=5 in the 3320-3400k range.
IMO, extending the range to 3500 or 3600k is better, regardless of k.
