Default GPU TF manual assignment retrieval

I calculated out that I can factor approx 1500/month/worker

When I asked for 1500 TF assignments I got the following error

FactoHTTP/1.1 502 Gateway Error
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0
Date: Sat, 03 Nov 2012 22:12:09 GMT
Connection: close
Content-Length: 186
Content-Type: text/html

It gave me back 1268 Factor lines...

Are there more assigned to me now that I have to go track down?

What's the most I should ask for at one time?

I was going to run 2-3 workers and wanted to queue up a month so I don't have to keep feeding the beast.

GIMPS has given me a page timeout when fetching only 144 factors. Turns out there were assigned to me. I think asking for 1000+ at a time is a bit much especially since now you have to manually scrape them from the "Manual Testing/Extensions" page. GIMPS has its good and bad days for sure. Typically interactions with the site at the top of the hour has performance delays as the server is working at producing the updated stats. (or so I've heard).

Try factoring up to say 72 or 73 if you want to do more work with less assignments.

Other may know of a different way to capture them back into a format for loading into your workToDo.txt files.

You can go here to look at your current assignments, without needing to scrape through Manual Extensions.

If you use GPU72.com to get/manage your assignments, you can get 100 at a time. It will generate the worktodo.txt file for you or you can copy and paste them. I have never had the page timeout before. {but} If something were to go wrong, you can always go to your GPU72 assignments page, select the ones you just got (sorted by date assigned) and then use the form to regenerate the worktodo.txt.

You can also combine this with mfaktXapp to manage the running instances. Then you can get all the assignments from GPU72, paste them into the stage form of mfaktXapp and once you have the # you want use the assign funtion to distibute them automatically. I currently manage 30 instances over 5 systems with mfaktXapp and it works great.

If you're not already on the GPU72 team on GIMPS, we'd love to have you too (login and then go to http://www.mersenne.org/jteam/)

As for fetching assignments from GIMPS directly, I don't know a way. Anytime I've messed up assignments I manually select them all, delete the assignments and then start over so I don't have to manually piece things together. (mfaktXapp also has a duplicate work finder though).

+1
GPU72 is also very efficient on LL tests
by the way, how to you and (others) manage a med to large farm?
mfakXapp has simplified it a lot, but....

Very carefully young Padawan . mfaktXapp has decreased my involvement with the whole thing by at least 300%! Before mfaktXapp I didn't have an automatic way to split the work among all the workers. I spent most of my time with that -- too much time ;) Don't need to do that anymore! The hardest thing I deal with now is managing heat and hardware. It's winter here now, so heat is a welcomed side effect. I try to clean each system out monthly, so for the TF systems, that's 1+ per week. For the LL and P-1 systems I don't hardly ever see them anymore since chalsall got the automatic assignments working through P95. I should clean them more, but...

HA! Looks like I have crashed my user...I get the following using the above link.
CGI Timeout

The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process.

If you see me in what looks like the shortest line at the grocery store run away... The guy in front of me is going to need a 15 minute price check on a two dollar item.

The server seems to be slow right now; maybe it needs a reboot. I'm getting the same thing for anything but my main account page:
Code:

CGI Timeout

The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process.
BTW - Be cautious with large TF requests/submissions directly to the GIMPS server. See here for more info.

Most of the recent features added to mfaktXapp were to address flashjh's issues with managing his farm. Other features are being considered to further improve the management of a GPU farm.
