Astronauts use Linux because you can't open windows in space.

Nice gag, but if an event lies within the past light cone of any other event, all observers who can see it at all will agree on which lies in the past of the other.

Only if two events are separated by a space-like interval will there be disagreement on their temporal ordering.

Channeling my inner "valley girl": well, duh!

I read something recently which confused me (not a high bar).

Something about reconciling time and space by going all quantum. E=mc2 /might/ be a simplification...?

The maths are beyond me. But the reasoning seemed sane.

Any comments (knowing this is in the Dumb Jokes Thread)?

Do particles causing Cherenkov radiation experience time in reverse?

An energetic electron traveling in a vacuum system slams into a piece of lead oxide heavy radiation shielding glass at a viewport and suddenly finds itself going faster than the local value of c/ni... https://www.pgo-online.com/intl/rd_5...ing-glass.html

No they don't. The speed of the particles is greater than the velocity of light in that medium, not the velocity of light in vacuum (say, 299792458m/s).

That means, I can move faster than the light, in a dark room.
