The guy or gal that invented zero. An ancestor of theirs probably invented the wheel too.
Muhammad ibn Musa alKhwarizmi..Appollonius of Perga, Diophantus.. “When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” ~ Arthur Conan Doyle, The CaseBook of Sherlock Holmes. Looking at the premise of the initial listing, the movie "The Usual Suspects (1995)" comes to mind. Last fiddled with by jwaltos on 20220122 at 04:18

Pythagoras sorts after Poincare in the Romanized alphabeticisation of his name.
I'd add Ed Witten, the only physicist to have won a Fields Medal.

The time span of ~2600 years makes comparisons difficult.
If a Pythagoras equivalent was born in this era could (s)he make any contribution today? Also Ramanujan and Galois died far too early IMO. I'm sure there could have been a lot more from them. Why does isacc not get a capital I?

JosephLouis Lagrange, Emmy Noether and John von Neumann are notable omissions so far.
I'm not sure what Hypatia has done to deserve her place on this list. I hope she wasn't added solely for female representation (in which case, why not Noether?)
