Anytime I've had stop 0x7 is was associated with bad RAM, but it could also be many other things like a driver or other hardware.

Have you changed anything recently? Added new hardware, USB devices, etc.?

How long has it been since you cleaned out the computer system. Dust can cause memory problems and can cause overheating too. You can use a compressor or canned air. Once clean, you can reseat the memory and try again. If this is the 1st BSOD you've seen and it hasn't happened again, it could be difficult to troubleshoot.

Try running Prime95's Torture Tests to see if you can make it happen again.

Edit: How long does that TF job take on your current system? Also, you can use http://www.memtest.org/ to setup a USB stick to boot into a memory test. It takes quite a while, but it is very good.

I ran the torture test for about 13 hours after this happened. No warnings or errors. I have read XP x64 has some quirks and I know of one. Cut and paste results in the moved file being locked. Cannot open or even delete. As for this issue, a periodic system restart would help as much as anything. This x64 install is about two months old and I have added very little to it since. I have Win 7 Pro but it is 32-bit. I'll get a 64 sometime. No 8 for me!

Have you cleaned the system? Maybe a clean and reseat of the memory will stop the error. WinXP x64 has never been very stable, IME.

I got this machine in October. It had two 512M modules. I replaced those with two 1G modules I took from a previous system. It was dusty inswhich ide. It came from an office. Getting canned air here is nearly impossible. Nobody sells it. I have a small.shop-vac which I could use to pull the dust out.

Run memtet86+, full run. See if it finds any bad ram. How old is the computer?

I found the code definitaions. 0x77 is a paging file read error. 0xF4 is an unexpected object close. I set the paging file size to zero. I don't run anyrhing that would use that much memory. I realize Prime95 has certain functions like FFT that would require more. I downloaded Memtest86+ on my phone. I will run it overnight.

Did you increase your page file to the recommended size? Has the error gone away?

Yeah, I fixed the problem. Went to a big comp store and got Win 7 x64; getting a bit hard to find. Lots of "8". The read-only folders and permissions had me talking to myself for a while. I so hate this phone!
