It seems I was defeating myself with all this folder business. The commonality between Ubuntu and the rest of the drive is the System32 folder. I created a Factor5 folder there, moved the archive contents into it, executed the proper commands, in Bash, to look at it, and there the two files were in the folder.

Then, I ran the following:

Code:
gcc factor5.c -std=c99 -lm -lgmp -lpthread -ofactor5
It said gcc was not installed and ask if I wanted to install it. I did.

I ran the compile command again and it aborted stating the header file gmp.h was missing.

Next step?

Gotta be honest...setting up an entire folder subsystem in your Windows System32 folder seems to be begging for trouble down the line.

As for the gmp.h question, you need to get the GMP library and compile it following the instructions.

I am going to let this go. I cannot grasp the overall picture. As for the library, I did that, and it failed.
