How do I do that? And how do I configure Prime 95 to check that specific exponent?

Go to the manual assignments page. Enter the assignment type and use the range to narrow down to your single number. Stop Prime95 Copy the given assignment to your worktodo. (Be sure to save the file) Restart Prime95. or Stop Prime95 Enter the line in your worktodo for the exponent and work type you want (without an AID or the N/A) Restart Prime95. Force a manual communication with PrimeNet, sending expected completion dates. |

Is there a way to stop Prime95 from assigning further projects at any given point? I would hate to miss the end point of one job and have another one start then be put on hold for a while. The job I am currently running has an estimated seven days left until its completion. Could you also explain how to copy the assignment to my worktodo? This is my first time doing this. Something strange is going on....not sure if poaching or not...I won't throw accusations
https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...5591433&full=1 https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...5591349&full=1 https://www.mersenne.org/report_expo...5591319&full=1 I grabbed twenty 73-74 TF work units from GPU72, fired it up and started some other work. I would check back and submit the results.txt from time to time. So far three of them have been "not needed" when I submitted. They are all the same user. They have 550 TF assigned, according to GPU72 anyway...but none submitted? Just strange. If it keeps happening I'll just try a different range or get them directly from Mersenne.org? |

He has some very recent completions according to https://www.mersenne.org/report_top_500_tf/ Maybe just not recognized by GPU72? Also doesn't explain why both of you got the same assignments from GPU72...if you did |

You could try bumping the final bit level up to 76. It needs to go there anyway. You'll get credit for the 74-75 and the 75-76, which is 6 parts out of 7of the work effort from 73 bits per exponent, even on the ones that get poached; 7 out of 7 on any that are not poached.

My concern doing this is that I only pledged to go to 74. The way GPU72 works (I think) is that someone else could have been assigned the 74-75, or the 75-76 and then I would be poaching from THEM. I think the only time you are supposed to extend the bit level is when you get it from Mersenne.org, since it locks the exponent entirely. I think GPU72 locks it by bit level, as it maintains the overall lock w/ mersenne.org. I could be wrong. |

Sorry... That was kinda my fault, managing a new and inexperienced user...
They seemed to have misconfigured their MISFIT, and were reserving hundreds of assignments an hour. I had the system unreserve anything over a day old, and also to have them be assigned work from the top-down. I hope there is too much wasted work because of this. Because of the top-down assignment rule for them, no additional assignments should be "over-subscribed" to other workers. |

Eh stuff happens...I'm happy to hear it was just an innocent mistake instead of actual poaching. I'm not going to sweat small tasks like that much, especially when normally things run smoothly. Just to be safe I took an LMH Depth-first assignment (each takes just under 4 hours for me from 78-79). No one likes those so I figure I'm safe. ![]() |
