Primenet V4 / V5 usernames

I've been using the V4 server for several years.

Now that GIMPS is migrating to the V5 server we have to create an account on the new server.

In the Register New Account page, we must select a login name.

My simple questions:

a) CAN I use the same username in V5 as V4 without it clashing?
b) MUST I use the same username in V5 as V5 to ensure history gets migrated?

These are simple questions, I know, but were not addressed in anything I've read so far. If someone knows the answers, please post here, but more importantly also this info needs to be placed explicitly in the migration instructions, because thousands of users have to do this, and at least some will be asking the same questions as me.

Thankyou for your answers. I hope they might appear on the account signup page, or get documented elsewhere.

I succeeded in creating a V5 account with the same userID, and notice there is now a field for a public username for stats etc. which could be sufficient for anyone wanting to change their name.

So far, I don't see my historic work credited, but time will tell, maybe its some crediting routine has to run.

Yes I have, a few days ago. Still no credit for previous work.

I'm still having trouble linking my v4 account as well. I e-mailed Scott yesterday but haven't gotten a response yet.

Will any of the version 4 user ids, user id passwords, and associated work be "automatically" moved to the version 5 server or will everybody have to go through the create a version 5 id and then link the version 4 id process?
At least some of the folks who contribute results probably visit this forum rarely if at all. Consequently when they visit Primenet in the future to check on their results, they won't be able to find anything and will logically assume that all of their results have been lost. Most likely they will then quit contributing,
I also remember (but can't find) a thread where George mentioned that version 4 user ids would be moved over automatically except when they were in conflict with a version 5 user id.

Hello,

Before the migration from V4 to V5, I was around #820 on the Top Scores list (bmoshier). Now, I can't find my account listed. I signed up for a V5 account and linked it to my V4 account. I have one machine running V5 work (Windows XP Pro x64) and the other systems are still on V4.

I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong, because my V5 account is NOT on the Top Scores list (which I expected it to be as I was on the Top Scores list for V4).
