FYI, port 6000 is used by the X Window system. Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't get through my firewall (a normal set of software firewall rules doesn't allow incoming X connections).

I used the Ars Technica God Box as a starting point. You could probably build two Core2 Quad systems for cheaper if you were just looking for crunchers, but I use this as my desktop.

You can stick with port 500 if you like. It will remain port forwarded on my smoothwall box for the duration. :)

We can all take off our machines to keep yours busy. As I write this message the server has less than 27806 pairs so what about leaving 4000-5000 pairs to you? Which type of machines do you have on the server?

I think it's time to update your server settings to:

jobMaxTime = 1 * 6 * 3600 -- 6 hours
prunePeriod = 1800 -- 30 min

The server will dry in less than 12 hours. Moved again 6 cores to help the drying process.
