My GHz and points are off as of today????

Something is going wrong with ranking system as of today (Fr. 2011.09.23).

I was at overall position of 794 with 1785.426 GHz.
As of today I am down to 886 with 1576.733 GHz ????????? Who stole my 200+ GHz???
Interestingly, but my P-1 sore is correct but LL first test is affected.

I write down score every time I send results (after you update database) so if record is required, let me know.

Please investigate and advise.

Why do you care? Are you any better off at rank 794 than 886?

The pleasure lies in making the contribution. If you are doing it for
"points" or your "score" or your "Ghz measurement", then you are doing it
for the wrong reasons.

Maybe you use now a newer version of the prime95 client that is faster but gives you
less GHz Days for LL-Testing the same exponent.

The top producer reports only show the results for the last year. The most likely explanation is that ~200 GHz-days worth of your results recently fell outside of that 365 day mark.

Irrelevant. He never said or strongly implied his intentions, and even if he is doing it only for the points/score/GHz measurement, that's his own choice.

On second thought, could this test be yours?

Another possibility is that the LL test was done without doing TF and/or P-1, and when subsequently a factor was found the LL credit would be withdrawn.

And what is actually purpose of searching for 'biggest prime'??? Completely useless. World will not be better when and if you find biggest prime with zillion^fillion digits.

So, since there are some kind of 'points' it is nice to follow progress and see that SOMEBODY actually values your contribution even with useless point.

I would like to see correct answer from people running this project.

I believe your explanation is correct. It nicely says 'Top producers for the last year.' but that sentence is misleading; it should say 'Top producers for the previous 365(6) days.'

I am wandering how many results first 10 on the list return per day???? What they are running? 1000 overclocked 8GHz PCs?

On the "top producers" report page you can click "customize" and select the time when the report starts. Put there the year you joined GIMPS to see all your score. Put 2000, or 1997, to see your position since the project started (they would be different, a lot of people have done plenty of work for many years *before* you ever joined, so position 800 on the last xx years would become position Z for the project's life). I remember years ago, when I started, I was carefully watching my exponent list, I was afraid I may find some prime and someone else steal my prime , you know, the web is full of guys wanting to take your money... So I was very angry when, after few months, one of my exponents magically disappear from that table... I even wrote to George (he may not remember, there are at least 8 years) and asked him about... Later on, I understood how the things work.

Actually, any date before October 2008 will return your lifetime totals. That's the date the v4 server died. The v4 server only kept cumulative credit, so there is no way to distinguish between old CPU credit contributed in 2007, 2006, etc.
