Is it possible to run mfakto or clLucas on the integrated GPU in my Haswell CPU? If yes, are there instructions somewhere? Also, if yes is there a solution for both Windows and Linux?

A google search of "Intel HD graphics opencl" has the top three pages of blablabla.intel.blablabla.bla boasting opencl performance so clearly mfakto would be "supported".
What happens if you run mfakto without any GPU installed? I'm way out of my depth on this one. I just thought I would weigh in early with a certain level of interest. I've often thought of doing this with my laptop as it sports an integrated GPU. Note that you will be seeing a serious heat increase. Like I said: out of my depth. Maybe you can find something useful here: http://software.intel.com/sites/bill...ore-processors http://software.intel.com/en-us/vcsource/tools/opencl |

mfakto; probably yes, but maybe not, ask Bdot... there was a discussion on it somewhere.
clLucas pretty sure no, I don't think it has Double Precision (?) Looks like most have OpenCL 1.1+ http://downloadmirror.intel.com/2310...257_64-bit.pdf |

My laptop uses intel HD graphics 2000 which is absolutely dreadful. Its capacity to draw shadows is particularly brutal. I use it to play Starcraft 2 and a bit of League of Legends during breaks at school. I get an average of thirty frames on Low settings in SC2. Maybe 15 on Medium settings (which includes medium shadows) and probably 18 frames if I set everything low but medium shadows.
I heard that HD 4000 was pretty good overall and competed with some lower-end discrete cards. I'm guessing 4600 is going to be even better. It's worth a shot. I'd say pull out your GPU and give Mfakto a spin and see if you can figure out how to force it to run on the iGPU if you can and if it seems to perform well. |

I have 1 HD 2000, 3 HD 3000, 1 HD 4600. I haven't really tried running mfakto frankly(hadn't really crossed my mind), but I will try later when I have time.
EDIT: I hope you're not comparing the 2000 with your 660 ti or 670. (insert weird lol smiley here) ![]() EDIT2: @kladner: Who's the devil? Last fiddled with by kracker on 2013-09-28 at 02:03 |

i tried mfakto-0.13:
Select device - Error: no platform found The readme file only talks about downloading AMD catalyst, not much info on making this work on Intel platforms. Ideas? BTW: There is a nVidia card in the box. That might be part of the problem. Last fiddled with by Prime95 on 2013-09-28 at 02:32 |

I believe it relies on clinfo for device info, which probably is not there.
You could, I guess install the AMD APP SDK and see what it does. Last fiddled with by kracker on 2013-09-28 at 02:42 |

Based on the performance I've seen with a Haswell, it's faster than a GT 210, but slower than a GT 430 when running OpenGL screensavers at 2560x1440.

As of early this year, I don't believe it works.
You might want to look at this thread: http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=17636 In it bdot offers a binary for HD 4000, which can be found here: http://www.mersenneforum.org/mfakto/mfakto-0.12-hd4000/ However, those that tried it did not have success with it. You can read a few conversations about it by searching for the keyword "4000" in this thread. Haswell is new though, so it is worth another try. Last fiddled with by Jayder on 2013-09-28 at 04:30 |
