Changing CPU

This is my first post in this group. I ran P95 quite a few years ago on a much slower computer. I couldn't deal with the long processing times, so I dropped out.

So, my question is this: I'm changing CPU's. I have a Pentium D now and a Core 2 Duo coming. I take it that I won't need to do anything with my account? The only thing I saw was were I could remove a CPU.

Do you have a native v5 account, with the Pentium D registered?
In that case drop the CPU, and when you install the new one give it a different name on the client, reconnect with the server and it will be registered under your account name. (You may as well keep the old name, if you prefer).
If you have just migrated your v4 account to v5, the Pentium D will show as "v4 computers", and you will not have the means to drop it. It doesn´t matter, though, for as soon as you connect to the server with the new CPU installed, and provided you have not changed your client data, the new CPU will be added to the list as well.

My account is V5. The one I am using now is listed as "Pentium D". The new one is a much faster Core 2 Duo. If it simply lists the new processor and leaves the other one, then I will leave it alone.

Ok, I see. You want to have both computers (Pentium D and Core 2 Duo) registered in the server. So yes, leave Pentium D alone, and just connect the Core 2 Duo to the server under the same user name. That will do.

No, it the same computer with a different CPU. I gave the computer a generic name this time around. It lists the old CPU and the new one, so all is okay.

You can drop or merge the old one into the new one. Or you can leave it as it is. It is doing no harm.
