Best Processor for AM3

Hello,

I have an old computer laying around with an AM3 slot. I'm thinking of just letting it run GIMPS. Any recommendations of CPUs? I was thinking AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Let's see 530 w PSU (high than I needed but I got it from someone else), 2gb of ddr3. Not sure what else you would need... but feel free to ask!

the Phenom II X4 965 will work good :)

On Newegg, 965 is 119/3.4 $/GHz and 975 is $129/3.6 $/GHz; with these prices 965 is better (nominally). Both are BE, you can't go wrong with either, I think.

970 is 109/3.5 $/GHz - beats them all, unless it is a salvaged type of the CPU-binning. (Do your own research)
