I was just checking my accont today, and I saw something strange.
27303781 F 62 15 135.9 -3.9 56.1 18-Feb-05 09:21 10-Oct-04 08:45 C13A338A1 996 v19/v20 27512971 F 62 2 117.8 7.2 60.2 22-Feb-05 10:34 28-Oct-04 11:04 C13A338A1 996 v19/v20 I never asked my computer to do that! But there's not a lot I can do about it, since that computer is all the way on the other side of the world. |

It's more likely that this is one of the now infamous examples of the PrimeNet-server-acknowledges-receipt-of-exponent-then-doesn't-update-database problem. You should look into checking the results.txt file of the PC.

Now it seems to be getting even weirder. The old exponent still hasn't updated, but there's a star in the status report:
27303781 * 62 15 145.8 -13.8 46.2 18-Feb-05 09:21 10-Oct-04 08:45 C13A338A1 996 v19/v20 27512971 F 62 5 127.7 5.3 59.3 03-Mar-05 10:49 28-Oct-04 11:04 C13A338A1 996 v19/v20 |

The old exponent must have been hit by the ERROR 3 bug. And the * appeared courtesy of nofortino's efforts to fix the factoring status on certain exponents. Look at the "A Little Help PLease" thread started by Prime95.

The thread he was referring to (and you were looking for) was started by George and is here.
http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=3738 By the way I too had the Error 3 and the accepts work but doesn't record the finishing or give credit problem. Can you examine your prime.log file (from other side of the world maybe ssh or ftp it) and look to see if your computer actually finished one of those exponents. (For example during the database problem yesterday). It may have tried to report the result for that one, just primenet has not acted on the info so it is still assigned to you. If so, send an email to George with the info from prime.log and a quick note asking him to rectify your problem. |

Ultimately, this points to the fact that the PrimeNet server is failing. It needs to be replaced with a more modern exponent management system ASAP. v5 seems to no longer exist, except in our memories of happier days when we were actually expecting that there might be a v5 at some point. We need to get that work back on track. Form a new team to do the work, if necessary, and get it done. I'll gladly volunteer my time for the effort. |

Ok, I got my parents to send it.
results.txt reports no factors (in fact, I've yet to find a single factor of any Mersenne number, ever). I think you're right about Error 3: [Mon Feb 21 17:50:06 2005 - ver 23.8] Updating computer information on the server Sending expected completion date for M27303781: Feb 22 2005 ERROR 3: Exponent not assigned to this computer.
