wiki licensing?

The wiki curently has no information on the licensing.

What should the information be licensed under? I personally think that it should be licensed under the GFDL.

IMO, whatever the most "free" license is what I would vote for.

How do we put up a license notice?

I think that if you want the licensing information to be displayed on every page, an administrator may have to edit one of the MediaWiki namespace pages.

Alternatively, we can put the licensing information in one of the help pages, etc.

I think that the only difference from GFDL and public domain is that in the first you are credited as the author of the article. In the second one anybody can use your article without citing you as the author.

We added a GFDL statement to the forum a few days ago (Look at the very bottom of each page). I don't know if it is implemented properly or not. I sure hope so.

Anyways, we could use this license for the wiki if you all think that is a good idea.

GFDL is OK for me. It will also attract some users to the Wiki because of the links from the pages that use MersenneWiki contents.
