disk writes and results file outputs

Hi,

I`m currently writing a little report for the website www.dirkvader.de about how to stress test a pc with prime95 and other software. Unfortunately I`ve nowhere found a complete explenation of what happens with the "Iterations between results file outputs" exactly if the pc crashes.

My Question:

Does the "Minutes between disk writes:" Option affect the "Iterations between results file output:" Option in the way that entries in the results.txt file are only written to disk depending on what I`ve chosen in the "Minutes between disk writes:" Option or not?

minutes to disk write is actually for the case of your computer crashes you lose all work up to the time of the last disk write the output illiterations is when it will output data to the gui if set to one and have the prime95 window open you will see each illiteration

So you mean the "Minutes"-Option doesn`t influence how often the "results.txt" file is saved to disk, am I right?

Yes, you are correct.

Iterations between result file outputs simply outputs the last 64 bits of the residue after every stated interval. This is useful for cross-checking when a number is being tested on two machines at the same time - e.g. when a prime is found and is being double-checked.

It has nothing to do with disk-writes in the conventional Prime95 sense and no savefiles are written.
