Things sure have come a long way from when I ran my first 10b benchmark on my 2 x Xeon X5482 back in 2009.
I remember "celebrating" when I finally got 10b to go under 2 hours with numerous optimizations to y-cruncher as well as the OS tuning. By the time I retired that machine some 10 years later, the 10b time dropped down to ~4700 seconds on it while getting thoroughly destroyed by newer hardware. Now we're on the brink of going sub-1 minute. Hopefully in the next year or so, I'll resume development on y-cruncher. I really want to finish the new FFT I started ~2 years ago, but currently side-tracked with some unrelated machine-learning projects. |
