T added fallowing lines to prime.txt
" PauseWhileRunning=*[2] during 1-5/8:00-18:00 Memory=200 during 1-5/8:00-16:43 else 3000 " this does the trick( i guess ) |

While technically they are "undocumented" and "not supported", George wouldn't write about them at all if they didn't work. (Right?)
Were you having trouble with them? |

i think both
" PauseWhileRunning=*[2] during 1-5/8:00-18:00 Memory=200 during 1-5/8:00-16:43 else 3000 " are bugy. I advise not to use them. |

I know one thing about Memory is that while the workers will stop and restart with less memory used at the proper times (I haven't used the day functionality myself), the memory isn't actually freed until Stage 2 completes. So if I have 10000 overnight and it changes to 7200 in the morning, while Prime95 says it's only using 7200, the OS will report that 10000 is used until we get a completion and the proper cleanup code is called. I've even seen it happen where it's been at 7200 the whole day, but late in the evening it suddenly spikes beyond 8000 (sometimes more) because when it says "Processing 150 Relative Primes (150 out of 300 already processed)" it somehow allocates a new section of memory, leaving the old section unused but still allocated, occasionally leading my system to lock up, then I have to restart Prime95.
^ The above is a bug with P-1 Stage 2 memory, not with the Memory= line, though it might appear that way which is why I mentioned it. I've tried PauseWhileRunning, and admittedly it didn't work for me, but I wrote that off to using an experimental version of Linux. (Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha/Beta) |
