Define "science fiction movies". Do so carefully. I have some suggestions that might fit your definition, but not your concept.

+1. And, it's rebooting!

The Expanse is worth investing in.

For SciFi series then "Lexx" might be of interest to some here.

And in the same line of interest then "Future Man", and further along that line "The Strangerers".

And back into slightly more mainstream there is "Altered Carbon" and "Andromeda".

Perhaps also "Humans" for those looking to use up spare time.

And the latest version of "Lost in Space" ain't too bad either.

But ultimately "Red Dwarf" is worth the effort after having spent much time on the list above.

What about if someone does something that is beyond available technology at the time of release (be careful how you answer this)? Are all time travel movies Sci Fi? Do animated films count?

I shan't and don't mention the current one again or I might change it to something else that you desire less (I have ideas, multiple.)

- Dark
- Donnie Darko
- Solaris (Tarkovsky's of course, not that remake garbage)

I forgot about that one. Good movie and often forgotten.

Running Man is a fun movie to watch. Gotta love Richard Dawson.

Although more comedy than sci-fi, Young Frankenstein. Young Frankenstein used many of the original props from the Universal Frankenstein movies.

I am looking forward to the Babylon 5 reboot. I just read about it this past weekend. I don't know if it a retelling of the story or something different.

Dark Star (1974) - Comedy science fiction, very low budget, started as a school project
John Carpenter and Dan O'Bannon early in their careers, you can see hints of their later work.

We love time travel movies. "Primer" is probably the best. Others we like:

Deja Vu
Predestination
Edge of Tomorrow
Source Code

We also really liked "Inception" and "The Thirteenth Floor".

Yesterday we saw the new "Dune". We haven't read the original book but from what we understand the new movie isn't the same as the book, but it happens in that "universe". We found quite a bit of the movie reminded us of "Warhammer 40K" lore.
