Default FATAL ERROR, can somebody explain?

Hello,

i've got a MSI P45 Board here with a Intel Q9650. I thought i am done with overclocking but,...

At first i've used 2048-4096k FFT for checking out Northbridge, FSB and Ram (FFTs not in-place): 24 Hours no Error.
After that i used 8-16k (FFTs in-place) to check the CPU: 24 Hours no Error.

At last, i've done a 8-4096k FFT in-place test to check everything at once. I got an Error after 24,5 Hours.

Can somebody explain me if the error i caused by Northbridge, FSB, Ram or by the CPU?

Heat. My money are on the heat. Use a temperature monitor program (like RealTemp, HwMonitor, etc) and check what's going on.

maximum load CPU Temp is 71°C (+/- 1°C) (TCASE by Intel is 71.4°C)

Northbridge and Ram have no Temp sensors, but they are just warm. I can touch them easily with my fingers without getting burned. So i guess below 50°C.

My guess is RAM, but it is purely a guess.

If you aren't going to use your computer for CPU-intensive work like GIMPS, SETI, Folding@home, etc. then I'd say you are stable enough. Otherwise, I'd back off the memory timings a hair or up the voltage a tiny bit and try again.

It's normal as the torture test tries different implementations of each FFT length in case one of them happens to uncover hardware problems that the other implementations miss.

Well yes, but as I recall in one of the iterations of v27, you removed the 'type-3' message because almost all production FFTs are of that type. Thus I was asking, the lack of a type identifier means that it's type-3?

You are correct. If prime95 doesn't specify a type, it is a type-3 FFT --- not that that means anything to anyone but me.
